Sono le due di mattina e dopo essere stata due ore a letto cercando di addormentarmi mi sono alzata e ho deciso di ammazzare il tempo navigando per internet finché il sonno mi vinca. Mi devo alzare alle sette e mezza, ma nonostante ciò non sono stressata nè arrabbiata, sono molto tranquilla e ho una strana sensazione di calma, di serenità insieme a ottimismo. Penso che le cose abbiano cominciato a cambiare e vedo che finalmente sto riuscendo a superare la tristezza e apatia che mi hanno tolto la allegria e la voglia di vivere quest’ultimo anno. È stato un periodo difficile ma sono certa che finalmente ho lasciato dietro la malinconia… le vacche magre sono morte.
Ho sonno, vado a letto.

Un momento de frustración.

I have recently discovered the incredible and fascinating work of Blu, a graffiti artist from Bologna, Italy. He is one of the most innovative and creative artists I have known by far. Most of his stuff are formless men and unhealthy creatures that writhe their bodies in mute agonies denouncing the stupidity of human being.

Un día, al seguir con la mirada a un insecto que casualmente revoloteaba por allí, giró la cabeza de manera fortuita hacia la izquierda y descubrió que, justo delante de sus ojos, a un palmo de sus narices existía otro mundo. Observó perplejo mientras se preguntaba atónito si acaso aquello siempre había estado allí. Al principio sintió pavor y desconcierto. Apenas se atrevía a mirar con el rabillo del ojo, no fuese a haber alguien espiando sus movimientos y dispuesto a acusarlo de mirón indiscreto y furtivo. Entonces optó por agacharse ligeramente para sumergirse hasta la cabeza en su pocita de agua y así, ahogándose un poco, siguió mirando, algo más tranquilo ahora que se sabía más protegido. Pasó un rato hasta que se fue acostumbrando a la presencia de aquel nuevo espacio y el recelo fue dando paso a una frágil y sutil confianza. Entonces atisbó a lo lejos lo que parecía ser una bonita y esbelta copa que contenía un burbujeante líquido anaranjado. Aquella visión despertó su curiosidad y sus instintos más escondidos. Por primera vez en su vida estaba experimentando sensaciones que no conseguía catalogar y que le producían cierto vértigo y tormento pero al mismo tiempo fascinación y regocijo. Decidió salir de su vaso de agua para acercarse un poco más a aquel nuevo mundo y poder oír sus rumores. Se aproximó al abismo y escuchó música y risas y el estallido de burbujas de licores deliciosos. Incluso creyó oír voces que pronunciando su nombre le llamaban. Al principio pensó que aquel mundo le estaría totalmente vedado y que sólo podría participar en él como mero observador, pero que nunca podría adentrarse en su interior, sin embargo pronto se dio cuenta de que aquello era un pensamiento infundado y llegó a la conclusión de que si conseguía vencer sus miedos y prejuicios sólo era cuestión de dar un pequeño salto y estaría dentro. Se sintió preparado para hacerlo y entonces una escalera amarilla se levantó desde la altura de sus pies y cogiendo un poco de aire saltó y corrió por la escalera y llegó a lo más alto y bebió del licor de aquella copa, y vivió en ella algunas horas, fue maravilloso. No obstante un día tuvo que volver a su vasito de agua. Aquel mundo fascinante siguió allí, podía mirarlo y escuchar su música todos los días y la escalera permaneció allí desplegada. De vez en cuando saltaba y venía a beber de las burbujas, pero cada vez que volvía a su mundo se daba cuenta de que era un poco más pequeño y más inhóspito.

Es curioso que éste sea el final de esta historia. Quizás hoy la música y el rumor de las burbujas del otro lado no se perciban con la misma intensidad, de manera que parece que falta algo en el pequeño mundo resultando así más comprimido e inhóspito. Otro día el final podría haber sido diferente.

Today we have done Salmorejo, a typical Spanish dish similar to gazpacho but thicker. It is a cream made of tomato, stale bread, garlic, olive oil, vinegar and salt. It is delicious and very easy to prepare. It must be served very cold.

Our recipe

Ingredients for the cream:
- Two middle size red tomatoes (500 or 600 gr. more or less).
- 100 gr. stale white bread (I mean bread done one or two days ago, not fresh). This quantity may vary, the more bread you add, the thicker salmorejo will be. Use only the crumb.
- 1 clove of garlic (if you want you can put even two cloves, but consider that garlic is not very digestive so that it might ruin your after lunch time).
- three or four soup spoons of olive oil.
- one soup spoon of vinegar.
- one small spoon of salt.

Ingredients for the top:
- one or two hard boiled eggs.
- some chopped up parma ham (jamón serrano).

Preparation:
Wash the tomatoes, chop them up and put them in a food mixer with the olive oil, vinegar, salt and the garlic, blend all these ingredients together and then add the bread to the mixture, continue blending until you have a smooth texture cream. Some people peel the tomatoes and remove the seeds before blending them, it is optional.

Pour the salmorejo on a plate and add the egg cut into pieces and the ham on the top. Chill it in the fridge and serve very cold.

Oops, we didn’t have ham today so we have put some leaves of basil to add a touch of colour.
